Color: A regal shade of Burgandy
Fabric: Pure Banarasi Silk
Craft: An art of hand painting style involving about 23 steps. Kalamkari is made by using natural dyes from plants and vegetables and then boiled in milk for proper fixation of color due to which the fabric has a distinct milk smell. This is a laborious process that includes repeated washing and boiling with milk, to fix color each time the fabric is painted with a new color. The most important thing about washing kalamkari fabric during manufacturing is that the fabric must be washed in a flowing water source like a river as in the case of Srikalahasti the city is based on the bank of the river Swarnmukhi.
Composition: Pure Katan Silk in warp and Pure Katan Silk in weft
Sari Length: 5.5 Meters Blouse: separate, unstitched blouse
Note: The blouse shown is for styling purposes only. Product color may slightly vary due to photographic lighting sources or your device settings.
Handweaving is quite an interesting and intricate art. If you need any advice related to saree styling or need some insight into this precious woven garment in your hands, please feel free to get in touch with us.
